“Uruau is getting pretty close to my definition of kiting heaven. With waves, gorgeous lagoons, consistent winds and friendly locals serving amazing locally caught seafood. Take me there!”

Located about 90km from Fortaleza airport on the windy north east coast of Brazil, Uruau is open to the swells of the Atlantic Ocean & has it all. From flat water to waves, from a private lagoon to the open sea, Uruau offers everything you can ask for in a Brazilian kiting trip. Pro kiters like Jo Wilson, Hannah Whitely and Aaron Hadlow  come here every season to train and perfect their freestyle repertoire.

With one of the longest windy seasons in our entire programme, from July to January, Uruau’s lagoon and vast empty windswept beach is the perfect place for beginners and also for those looking for some flat water to  improve their tricks. During these months, the winds start at the crack of dawn and blow until sunset! Here in Uruau, you can find yourself riding in the most beautiful sunsets until dark. As a result,  our partner centre has started organising night sessions, with lamps lightening up the lagoon for those who just can’t bear to leave the water when the sun goes down.

For those rare non windy days or just for a change, the centre offers Stand Up Paddleboarding. This is a great way to spend the day, either by exploring the lakes and mangroves or by hitting the waves and going for a surf.

Food is high on the agenda here, so you can enjoy lunch at the kite spot packed with fresh seafood in a small Barraka right on the waters’ edge. For those looking to explore the surrounding area, buggy trips can also be organised for the day.

To whet your appetite, here there is a video from Hannah Whiteley’s recent training trip to Uruau.
