The Kitesurfing

Simply stunning would be the first words that come to mind when talking about the kiting in Uruau. From a flat lagoon, ideal for learning the basics to the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, Uruau has every condition you could wish for.  Remarkably constant winds from July to January and pleasant temperatures throughout the year so leave the wetsuit at home!

Generally, you will find that the wind blows side shore and a little stronger in the mornings and gets a little less powerful in the afternoon turning to side onshore.

Once you arrive at the centre, Riki and his team of professional IKO instructors will look after you and make sure you’re well taken care of. Whether learning to kitesurf, practicing new tricks, planning a downwinder or relaxing in hammock, you will be in safe hands!

Centre, Courses & Kit

The Centre

The kitesurf centre is located on the sand right by the kite spot between the lagoon and the ocean. The team here really are excellent, with a teaching programme that spans from complete beginner lessons through to making your first handle pass.

The kite centre itself is a beautiful complex set in well manicured gardens that are sheltered from the wind, meaning even non kiters can have a lovely time here. Naturally the centre has all the facilities you would expect such as showers, restaurant-bar with local specialities, a kite shop for spares and kit as well as a relaxing swimming pool where you can relax after a day on the water.
