Sotavento is a stunning stretch of coastline known for its golden sandy beaches and more importantly for its incredibly consistent winds, making it an ideal place for wind and kitesurfing enthusiasts. When there is wind (which is most of the time) it would be fair to say that the beach is owned by kitesurfers and windsurfers! Additionally our centres are located right on the beach which adds to its attraction.

It has cemented its place in the world of kitesurfing and windsurfing as one of the top destinations, and each year there are annual world tour events with the prestigious world cup taking place here.

There are a couple of options accommodation-wise in Sotavento and that is at the magnificent Melia Gorriones which is located right on the beach, and the Playa Paraiso apartments, which htough a little further away offer good quality accommodation for those on a budget. The Melias Gorriones is a great place to relax in a quiet environment. It is also ideal for families or for those with non-windsurfing partners.

We do recommend you rent a car as there are several pretty towns and villages within the area that are worth visiting. In particular Costa Calma and Jandia have developed into bustling towns with a nice choice of restaurants and bars and a selection of shops.
