Sotavento is a stunning stretch of coastline known for its golden sandy beaches and more importantly for its incredibly consistent winds, making it an ideal place for wind and kitesurfing enthusiasts. When there is wind (which is most of the time) it would be fair to say that the beach is owned by kitesurfers and windsurfers with our centres  located right on the beach which adds to its attraction.

Sotavento has cemented its place in the world of kitesurfing and windsurfing as one of the top destinations, and each year there are annual world tour events with the prestigious world cup taking place here.

There are a couple of options accommodation-wise in Sotavento and that is at the magnificent Melia Gorriones which is located right on the beach or the Playa Paraiso apartments, which although a little further away, offer good quality self catering accommodation for those on a budget. The Melia Gorriones is a great place to relax in a quiet environment and  ideal for families or for those with non-windsurfing partners. Families especially should consider the Casa del Mar rooms which have their own terrace overlooking the beach and the sea so a perfect spot to base yourself for a great family holiday.

We recommend  a hire car for your trip as there are several pretty towns and villages within the area that are worth visiting, in particular Costa Calma and Jandia which have developed into bustling towns with a good choice of restaurants, bars and  shops.
