“A beautiful golden sandy beach, a vibrant village atmosphere and a choice of kitesurfing and windsurfing beaches – an ideal winter destination.”Our specialist, Lucy | Email Lucy
The small Island of Sal is the windiest of the archipelago and is an unspoilt paradise that has retained its charm, relaxing ways and of course its reputation as a great wave spot within easy reach of Europe.
Santa Maria town is set on the southern part of the island and has some of our centre’s best locations. The wind conditions make for perfect windsurfing for all levels and fantastic for the advanced kitesurfer, while the beach itself has amazing fine sand and turquoise waters which are pollution free.
Wherever you are on the island you will receive a warm welcome from the fun loving locals and the fusion of Portuguese, African and Latin influences makes for a colourful atmosphere.
Eating and drinking is an enjoyable pastime, especially for fish lovers where it is fresh, tasty and fairly inexpensive. The restaurants and bars are all concentrated in the main square of Santa Maria, which is small enough to get around on ft. We suggest you try the local rum (grogue) or the slightly weakened punch (ponche)!
