Abu Soma offers epic windsurfing conditions - flat, warm, shallow water and thermally accelerated wind - a perfect spot for every level of windsurfer.
It is a great place to begin, or to develop your skills – you can practice your gybes and freestyle in the lee of the long sand bank, on glassy waters with no distractions.
Year round cross shore winds ensure quality water time with average winds blowing F5 from February to October and sometimes even later in the season. Winter months mean 7.0 m weather and bigger boards for blasting or light-wind freestyle.
Abu Soma is a great destination for windsurfing families with the hotel just a short walk from the centre, plenty of additional activities like horse-riding and tennis. There are also kids clubs, children’s pools & play area and babysitting can be booked locally.

The Centre, Courses & Kit
The Centre
The windsurfing centre is a 5 minute walk from the main swimming pool of the Palm Royale Hotel where there is a great range of JP & Fanatic windsurf kit for you to enjoy in world-renowned conditions. Whether you enjoy blasting or freestyle and whatever your ability, this is the resort to take your sailing to the next level. As you will see below, there are courses for all levels, private tuition or just clock up the water time.

This course covers safety, kit set up, wind awareness, uphauling and tacking, culminating in getting going and sailing the board forwards and backwards. Kit is included during the course. |

This course is ideal for those working on waterstarts and includes launching, fast tacking, some harness work and gybes. Kit is not included. |
