El Gouna is a short 25 minute drive from Hurghada airport. Built just over 25 years ago by a property developer who bought a huge chunk of desert, it is pretty unique, as it really has a more European feel to it. The town is built around several inlets and waterways that have been carved into the desert and then flooded, with small roads and pathways connecting up the various parts of the town.

These days it’s pretty hard to call El Gouna a resort – the best way to describe it is as a marina town with its own school, hospital, library brewery & residential areas. This gives the place a bit more of a cosmopolitan feel to the place – El Gouna genuinely has a bit of soul!

Activity on land focuses around 2 main areas: Abu Tig Marina and the downtown area. The marina is a fantastic spot with a host of restaurants and bars to enjoy in the evenings, and typically there is something going on in this area be it live music in one of the bars, the weekly street party or simply chilling out and watching the world go by.

Time on the water, is of course excellent, with a choice of two main spots. Mangroovy Beach with its huge lagoon and acres of shallow flat warm water is just to the north of the main town, 5 minutes away by tuk tuk (3 wheeled taxis – great fun!). These are a great way for getting round town, with a set fare of about 50p, so no more haggling with taxi drivers! The Movenpick beach, only accessible by guests staying at the Movenpick Hotel offers up another feast of flat water across two huge flat water lagoons.

A day spent at either of these spots equates to weeks kitesurfing in the UK – kiting here really does accelerate your learning. Click here for more details on the kitesurfing.

Recent Testimonial: “The service from your company was excellent, Jim is very efficient and pleasant to deal with. Also the info on where to stay and kite info on the beach to go to was a great help! We had a fantastic time, wind was good for us, beach set up was amazing. Found great places to eat, and got to swim with Dolphins (this even surpassed kitesurfing exhilaration – didn’t think that was possible” Melissa Evans

We have just returned from 9 nights at the Movenpick in El Gouna and had an amazing time. Your help and advice was so valuable and made our holiday perfect…thankyou.Louise Bennett
