The Kitesurfing
The Kitesurfing
The first of two awesome kite spots in Hurghada can be accessed directly from the beach by the Magawish & Mecure Hotels. Typical to Egypt, it has calm, shallow sea with a north easterly wind blowing cross onshore from the left. There are two kitesurfing zones here – one for beginners (Baby Bay) and one for advanced (the sand bar).
Baby Bay is a good 10 minute walk upwind from the first centre and has its own zones, one for students under centre instruction and another for those practicing. The bay is mainly shallow and does have a slight wind shadow that clears up in the middle of the bay.
The sand bar is about 500 meters off shore, directly in front of the centre and is an epic kitesurfing spot. On the inside of the sand bar the wind is effectively off shore so the sea is flat as a pancake – fantastic!
The second great spot, further North & for those of you staying at the Jasmin Village, again has the kiting right on your doorstep, with the kite centre just a few minutes’ walk from reception – perfect!
The wind in Hurghada follows a similar pattern to other resorts on this side of the Red Sea, with a steady breeze accelerated as the wind is squeezed between the sea and the range of mountains that run parallel to the beach just to the west of Hurghada.
Kiting in Hurghada is both a freestylers and beginners dream – ideal for parties who are of mixed ability. It also works really well windsurfers.
All this goes to make Hurghada a really versatile spot for a watersports holiday.

Centre, Courses & Kit
The Centre
The centre in Hurghada is located right on the beach in front of the Magawish Hotel. Our partner centre offers a dedicated shallow area for beginners and training, separate launch areas for the experts and the now famous sand bar located only 300 meters off shore.
The main launching area is right in front of the centre. Just pump up your kite with our compressor and hit the water. Ride slightly upwind to the sand bar with its flat water areas. The perfect spot for practising those new moves! If you have a problem one of our rescue boats will be there to pick you up and bring you back to the centre.
