With an almost year round consistent wind, often accelerated by the thermal characteristics of the region, and the centre right on the beach, this is a great spot to head to. Predominantly cross and cross-offshore wind from the left it blows best from May to December, although you will find sun and wind year round in this resort! The morning wind is slightly off shore and turns to side onshore in the afternoon. During the day, winds can increase by 1 to 2 forces as the mountains generate a sea breeze.
The spot is fantastic with a turquoise shallow water lagoon and the Arabic Desert Mountains beyond. Sail back to the hotel on a huge downwind blast – it is simply amazing – and if you’re really lucky you may even sail with the dolphins alongside you.

Centre, Courses & Kit
The Centre
The windsurf centre in Safaga is located on the wide and sandy beach in front of the Shams Hotel. Fully exposed to the wind and on a sand spit, this is possibly the best spot in Safaga for all levels, which is why it has been a windsurfers’ (and Waveriders’) favourite for years!
Rescue boats are there for your safety and there’s great kid’s kit available for your children to get on the water. With an inshore area great for beginners, the large bay is ideally suited for bump and jump or blasting and freestyle. A windsurf trip to Toubia Island with its idyllic beaches is recommended.
