The Windsurfing
Perfect windsurfing conditions exist in Zaafarana – windsurf directly from the beach in front of the centre on a long fine sandy beach with just shallow light green water stretching out before you. There is no coral, no stones or reef, just a constant cross shore wind from the left averaging Force 5-6 for most of the year.
Zaarafana is a great place to get away from it all with great conditions for those that want to spend all day and everyday on the water. There is a shallow tidal lagoon that is great for beginners and lessons and a long speed strip at about 400m out to sea which is perfect for freeriding & blasting!
A typical day starts with a sea breeze that quickly accelerates as the day gets hotter; the wind is normally from the north/north east, so side-shore to cross on from the left, and on average is 18 to 22 knots in strength.

Centre, Courses & Kit
The Centre
The centre in Zaafarana is a 5 minute walk through the grounds of the hotel and has loads of Fanatic & F2 boards for your enjoyed paired with a selection of either North or Challenger sails.
Ibi has a friendly team of English-speaking instructors to teach you everything from the absolute fundamentals in the beginner course, to water-starting and carve gybe for the intermediates and personal coaching for advanced riders.
The Courses
Below is an outline of the course structure at this centre. We recommend that you pre-book your course to ensure that you have a place and that you can start immediately.
Beginner Courses
Learn to windsurf on a four day beginner course with unlimited equipment usage to get the water time in afterwards. Courses are one and a half hours a day then practice time under the ever watchful beach team. Alternatively try the three hour session with two hours beginner board rental.
- 6 hour beginner course & unlimited practice – £200 pp
- 3 hours beginner lessons & 2 hours beginner rental – £80 pp
Intermediate Courses
Want to use a harness and get in the footstraps? Take three hours intermediate tuition and one weeks board hire and you will be flying along in no time at all. If you want a little more tuition then new for this year is a daily one hour lesson and one week kit hire.
- 3 hours intermediate course + 1-weeks hire – £155 pp
- 3 hours private lessons & 1-weeks kit hire – £240 pp
Freerider Options
For those windsurfers who are looking for water time and enjoying blasting or freestyling in the near perfect conditions kit hire & safety cover is for you.
For those looking to improve consistency of carves or duck gybes just bolt on 4 hours advanced lessons and away you go.

The Kit
Fanatic & F2 boards with North and Challenger rigs just grab one and go.
The centre is well stocked with a choice of boards and rigs – you will have access to the right equipment no matter what your current level, or the level you are aspiring to.
Sails:
- North or Challenger sails pre-rigged on carbon masts with high carbon content booms for optimum lightness.
- Sizes from 3.3m to 7.5m depending on local wind conditions.
- Plenty of equipment should you need to change up or down size as conditions dictate.
Boards:
Fanatic & F2 – latest offerings across the whole range whether you fancy a slalom board or freestyle wave you will find what you are looking for with us.
