The Kitesurfing

The Kitesurfing

A deserted stretch of beach, 3km down a sand track means that this is one of the most secluded beaches that we have in our programme!

Che Shale enjoys the same wind season as our other Kenyan resorts. The Kaskazi wind blows from the north in the winter from December through till the end of March, while the Kuzi kicks in from the south from late June and blows through till late September. Both wind seasons are separated by rainy seasons, so it’s best not to travel in these months.

Conditions on the water vary depending on the tide state but generally you will find every imaginable set of water conditions during a typical day. Waves break on an outer reef, while at mid tide lagoons fill up close to shore making gorgeous flat water freestyle conditions. Of course, if you just want to cruise – there are literally miles of beautiful palm fringed coastline to enjoy.

The huge expanse of beach, combined with the complete lack of crowds is what makes this spot really special. Che Shale will leave memories that will never fade, either on the water or off it!

Centre, Courses & Kit

The Centre

Our partner kite centre is located right by the accommodation. Justin Aniere introduced the sport here 12 years ago and opened the first school at Che Shale. The team of local and international, English-speaking instructors will teach you everything from the absolute fundamentals in the beginner course to water-starts and power control techniques for the intermediates, not forgetting coaching for advanced riders. This spot is a great place to build confidence due to the amount of space on the beach and on the water with hardly anyone else  there, you wont spend any time dodging traffic either!!
