The Kitesurfing
The Kitesurfing
Nyali beach is one of our favourite winter kitesurfing holiday destinations. The combination of calm water, waves, lots of space and a superb centre to support all levels of rider make it a great spot.
Nyali has two seasons; the Kaskasi (Dec to April) when the winds are from the north, the days are hot (30 – 35°C) and the wind strength is 16 – 22 knots, and the Kuzi (June to September) when the winds are from the south, the days are cooler (22 – 28°C) and the winds are stronger 20 – 28 knots.
The beach is long and wide (ideal for beginners), the water is shallow for at least 40 yards and the sea is calm with some wind chop. The reef is about 1 kilometre out and in certain areas kicks up an excellent wave that sucks the water pretty much off the coral! For advanced riders, head upwind to the ‘engine block’ (literally an engine block from a ship wreck) and find bigger waves.
