The Kitesurfing
The Kitesurfing
They say a picture tells a thousand words, and never was this truer than when talking about Dakhla – as you can see, the desert backdrop, constant warm winds and complete lack of development go to make for some of the best conditions for kiting you will find anywhere in the world. It really is that good.
You may be in the middle of the Sahara Desert but what an incredible spot – directly in front of your accommodation is the most impressive flat water lagoon – leading to small chop further out, but as the tide starts to recede a number of sandbars are revealed creating some of the flattest water conditions possible. Hence Dakhla consistently appearing on the PKRA pro freestyle tour.
These incredible conditions aren’t only for the pros though! The same flat water and consistent winds make Dakhla an excellent destination to learn to kitesurf and progress – from waterstarts to back mobes, you’ve never had a better chance of success!
Take a mini adventure away from the camp and find some fantastic wave spots on the Atlantic Coast which are not to be missed – perfect for the more experienced kiter.
Take a look at our blog post and trip report from Andy who visited Dakhla in summer 2011 for a first hand trip report!

Centre, Courses & Kit
The Centre
Both our partner centres are set right on the shores of the lagoon, about 40 minutes walk apart, with accommodation available at both. The huge flat water lagoons offer ideal conditions for learning and improving your kitesurfing skills. There is also the option of some fantastic wave spots on the ocean side which should not be missed!
Any wind direction works in the lagoon but the prevailing wind is north/north east. The wind blows from 15 to 25 knots all year round with summer having the strongest and most consistent conditions.
