Steeped in history as a sea-faring nation, Portugal faces west into the Atlantic as the westernmost country in mainland Europe. Offering a patch work of lush scenery and mountainous terrain in the north, through to a sunny Oceanic climate in the south, Portugal is an incredibly diverse country.

A history of pioneers has seen Portugal occupied by the Spanish, the Phoenicians, the Celts and a 400 year Moorish rule, turning the country into a melting pot of architecture, food and tradition. Needless to say, a country so dependent on its coastline also serves up some incredible seafood!

Just 3 hours from the UK Portugal is also a fantastic spot for short trips or flexible durations – while still avoiding the crowds of more established kitesurfing destinations.

Kitesurfing in Portugal has been on our radar for a while now and we’ve been searching for an ideal spot that offers all the great aspects of Portuguese life, as well as delivering epic kiting conditions, both on the open sea and in incredible flat water.
