“A dream location with consistent winds, long sandy beaches and a hot climate. The nearest destination to the UK to experience great kite & windsurfing”

Tarifa is situated at the southern most point of the European mainland separating the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. For kitesurfing and windsurfing enthusiasts it is simply a dream location as it is has a string of huge sandy beaches that are swept by consistent winds 300 days of the year! Not to mention that non Spanish visitors to the town are probably there for the wind so the atmosphere and camaraderie is quite infectious.

There are two parts to the town; the historical part is an ancient walled town with a labyrinth of narrow streets, a fishing harbour, white washed houses, small squares with orange trees and rich architecture including a striking castle with stunning views across the sea to Africa. Here you will find some great restaurants and bars both traditional and European with bags of character, combining Spanish and Moorish flavours. Outside of the walled city are more modern buildings and accommodation with a great selection of trendy shops, restaurants and bars. The whole town is surrounded by open countryside, affording huge views across the Strait of Gibraltar to the mountains of North Africa.

While you can reach everything by foot in the town, a car is needed to get around as the windsurfing and kitesurfing centres are a few kilometres outside of town. Also, having the car gives you that much more freedom to venture further afield to explore this beautiful region.
