“Coche is a real Caribbean island experience – stunning white sands, clear flat water and a very chilled out vibe.  Would make an excellent twin centre with El Yaque or Los Roques.”

The small island of Coche is just a 30 minute boat crossing from El Yaque and makes either a good kitesurfing day trip or an idyllic base for a low key relaxing holiday.  In our experience, once you’ve kitesurfed on the warm, flatter-than-flat turquoise waters and seen the stunning uncrowded beaches, one day is definitely not enough!

The resort consists of three large, good standard, all inclusive hotels on the beach front and a fabulous kite café serving food and drinks at the far end of the beach.  This is definitely a very chilled out affair with your evening entertainment being limited to the hotel, however for those looking for a real get away from it all experience, this is just the thing.

Just outside the hotels are areas of beach loungers and umbrellas, but move to the far end and you have a long spit of land with beaches either side, from where kitesurfers choose either on-shore winds with slightly choppier water, or off-shore beautifully flat water.

There are 5 to 6 boat crossings to El Yaque each day if you’d like to try out contrasting conditions with stronger winds.  Due to the limited amount of things to do on Coche Island, we would suggest combining a few days here with a few days in El Yaque for a fabulous Caribbean kitesurfing holiday.
