Why not include other experiences on your kitesurfing or windsurfing holiday? All of the below can be organised when you get to resort.
Coche day trip:
This can be done either through your kite school or independently. There are 5 or 6 boat crossings per day (just 30 minutes) to Coche island from El Yaque, which is definitely recommended for its uncrowded white sandy beaches and clear super flat water.
Margarita Island tour:
Highly recommended – explore the diversity of the island with its deserted beaches, beautiful villages and bustling markets. A full day trip in an air conditioned mini van, costs from $45 for 4 people.
Cubagua day trip:
Visit this unspoilt, deserted island (only a couple of fishermans’ huts) with its stunning white sands and clear water. Unfortunately kiting is not allowed here, but there is good snorkelling to be found, particularly around a partially exposed ship wreck 200m or so off the shoreline. Includes lunch, drinks and boat crossing (approx 1 hr).
Las Restingas National Park:
Only 20 minutes from El Yaque, hired boats take people along 15 kms of criss-crossing natural channels that cut trough the thick mangroves which border this large lagoon. The southern part connects to the sea and covers an area of 18,850 hectares. The area serves as a refuge for birds including, pelicans, great white heron, cormorant, hawk, scarlet and white ibis.
