The Windsurfing
El Yaque has long been a windsurfer’s paradise. The town is all about watersports and the windsurfing centre is pretty much right in the middle of the fine sandy beach. When you visit El Yaque it is not difficult to see why the town has produced some of the top freestyle windsurfers in the world. There are many local kids that practice at the main beach everyday, and it’s fantastic to see their enthusiasm for the sport as they practice their tricks and flips on the water.
Often dubbed ‘the pearl of the Caribbean’, Margarita is 40km off the north coast of Venezuela. Formerly a small fishing village, El Yaque is now one of windsurfing’s hot spots, offering consistently high wind stats from November to May. Coupled with the party atmosphere, it’s great for non-stop action on and off the water.

The Centre, Courses & Kit
The Centre
Our partner windsurf centre is set in the 400-500m wide bay, with a perfect sideshore wind and shallow water just a few steps away. These perfect conditions guarantee an astonishingly steep learning curve, no matter what your level. The wind is cross shore from the left and ideal in the morning for learning when it blows force 2-4. It then increases slowly during the day to somewhere between force 4-7.
The centre is fully equipped and staffed by a team of international instructors who will be happy to get you started on the right path or help you complete that dynamic move that may have been evading you. Off the water you will find a restaurant next door and numerous beach bars in which to recount the days successes over a cocktail or two.
The Courses
Beginner Courses
This 10 hour course will teach you what’s what on a windsurf board, the theory of sailing and wind awareness. After these basics you will learn to launch, uphaul, sail away, turn around and end up back where you began.
If you’re not sure how you will get on with windsurfing why not book a taster session, you’ll soon be clamouring for more!
10 hours including equipment & tuition – £190
4 hours including equipment & tuition – £95
Intermediate Courses
Available in 4 hour blocks and including equipment you will continue the learning curve by tackling beach starts and using a harness – this uses your body weight to take the pull of the rig and gets you sailing more effectively. Additional 4 hour blocks are available to move onto using ftstraps and planing.
4 hours training - £90 excluding kit
Advanced Courses
We have arranged a discounted price so you can get some ‘pro feedback’ and have a couple of hours tuition to finally nail that duck gybe, forward loop or flaka. If you want to try a new manoeuvre then we recommend 4 hours of training.
2 hours advanced training is – £30 excluding kit

Unlimited Progress Course
Looking to improve your windsurfing skills in the most time effective way? Try an Unlimited Premium training course for the most intensive tuition available, in the most flexible manner. You choose what you want to learn and when, from the daily training schedule, with up to 4 hours training per day over 5 or 10 days.

The Kit
Well-stocked with a choice of approximately 90 boards and 140 rigs you will always have access to the right equipment no matter what your current level, or the level you are aspiring to.
Sails
- North sails rigged on 75% carbon masts (100% for bigger sails) with high carbon content booms.
- Sizes from 3.7m to 8.8m depending on local wind conditions.
- Plenty of equipment should you need to change up or down size as conditions dictate.
Boards
- Fanatic and Mistral – latest offerings across the whole range.
- For 2010 80% of the Fanatic board range has been renewed – the results are boards which have never been easier to ride, are more forgiving and simply more fun.
